Everyone asks about my logo and there’s actually a story about it’s genesis and it goes like this … My first decade as a lawyer was with my partner and mentor, Robert Scardino, based in Houston. We tried many cases together in many different Courts and traveled extensively, but many were in Harris County’s old criminal courthouse. During that time, I happened to be in trial before the Honorable Larry Standley in County Court at Law No. 6. During a break, the Judge gruffly, as he was known to do, called me to the bench. He ripped a piece of paper from his legal pad, handed it to his clerk and said, “please stamp that”, which the clerk dutifully file stamped and handed it back to the Judge. Without looking up from what he was reading, he handed me the paper over the bench and said, “that’s all.” and waved me back. As I walked back to counsel table I saw the sketch he had made of me during trial that morning. The Judge never acknowledged the his artwork. The logo is taken directly from that drawing. The original sketch is below.
