Story of the Logo

Everyone asks about my logo and there’s actually a story about it’s genesis and it goes like this …

My first decade as a lawyer was with my partner and mentor, Robert Scardino, based in Houston. We tried many cases together in many different Courts and traveled extensively, but many were in Harris County’s old criminal courthouse. During that time, I happened to be in trial before the Honorable Larry Standley in County Court at Law No. 6.

During a break, the Judge, unexpectedly called me to the bench, ripped a piece of paper from his legal pad and handed it to his clerk saying, “please stamp that”. The clerk dutifully file stamped and handed it back to the Judge. Without looking up from what he was reading, Judge Standley handed me the paper over the bench and said, “that’s all.” and waved me back. As I walked back to counsel table I saw the sketch he made of me during trial that morning. The logo is taken directly from that drawing. The original sketch is below.
